Rescue Rocket the Lurcher

Dogs Trust Kenilworth is searching for a home for a speedy Lurcher who has been waiting more than 18 months to start a new life with a forever family.

The team at the Honiley-based centre say four-year-old Rocket will bring sparkle and joy to his new home as despite having been found as a stray last year, he is full of fun and always ready to take off on an adventure.

Deputy Manager at Dogs Trust Kenilworth, Tristan Smith, says:

“Rocket is a real live-wire so he’s looking for a home with active owners who are happy to keep up with him and who have a real zest for life. He loves his food, which is great for training as he is a very enthusiastic pupil if you have a tasty treat to hand!”

Rocket is one of seven Lurchers currently at Dogs Trust Kenilworth, but he has been at the centre longer than most, and staff are hoping that his wait for a loving home will soon be over. Since arriving at the centre Rocket has seen many of his canine companions head home and although he has been reserved twice, he hasn’t yet made it into a home.

Rocket would like an adult only home due to his boisterous nature and he loves the company of people so he would like his owners to be around a lot of the time, particularly whilst he settles in, but he is also happy to entertain himself as he loves toys. He benefits from keeping his brain as well as his body busy, so food puzzles and searches are a great way to keep him happily occupied.

Tristan says:

“Rocket has been with us quite some time now and we would love him to find his ideal home. He makes us smile every day and we know he will bring fun and laughter to his new family so we are really hoping we can change the tale for him and see him settled into his forever home.”

If you think you could give Rocket the forever home he deserves, please go to www.dogstrust.org.uk/rehoming to start the virtual adoption process.

Rocket is ready to fly into a new home this November
