The team at Dogs Trust Kenilworth are hoping shyness won’t stand in the way of a dog that was found wandering the streets alone, finding love this Spring.
Sam, a two-year-old Greyhound, arrived at the Honiley-based rehoming centre last July and although he has seen many of his four-legged friends head home with their perfect match, he is still waiting for his special someone.
Emma-Jane Thomas, Manager at Dogs Trust Kenilworth, says:
“Unfortunately, it often takes Greyhounds longer to find their forever home than many other breeds, and that is proving to be the case for Sam, even though he is a real sweetheart.
“There are many misconceptions about the breed and often people think Greyhounds need more exercise than other breeds, but that isn’t necessarily true. They generally like a walk or a run around and then are happy to snooze away a few hours. Sam would make a lovely family pet and we are just hoping that he finds his perfect family...”
Sam can live with children aged 14 and over and could potentially live with a similar sized, calm dog who could help him find his paws. Due to his chase instinct, Sam can’t live with small furries and he is happy wearing a muzzle when he’s out and about. He loves his food, which will be a great way for his new family to build a bond with him.
Emma-Jane says:
“Sam is a shy, sensitive boy, so he would prefer a home without too many comings and goings until he has built up his confidence. A few tasty treats are definitely the way to his heart, and we know that with lots of TLC and cosy evenings snuggled on the sofa alongside his family, he will soon show more of his cheeky side and make the perfect canine companion.”
